Welcome to Rugbyfest 2010. For those who attended last years event, we welcome you back to Kamloops. For those new to Rugbyfest, we hope you find it a fun and worthwhile experience for your teams. Last year’s weather was definitely NOT the normal conditions for Kamloops at that time of year, so we are hoping for much better conditions this time around.
Rugbyfest 2010 will take place on April 16th and 17th on various rugby fields throughout the Kamloops area. This year there will be Grade 8 Boys’ Division, Junior Boys Division, Senior Boys’ Division, Junior Girls Division (tentative, subject to # of teams registered), and a Senior Girls’ Division.
The registration fee this year will be $100.00. Due to the popularity of this event, teams who register first and who have paid their registration in full will secure a spot in the draw. Only teams who have mailed a cheque will be guaranteed their place in the draw. Once the draw is filled, teams registering late will be placed on a waiting list. Please fill out the enclosed Registration Form and return it as quickly as possible WITH YOUR CHEQUE. We will confirm with you by e-mail or fax within one week of receipt of payment that you are in the tournament.
This is an exhibition participation festival. Teams will be placed in an appropriate pool based on ability and geographic location. The intent is to offer competitive rugby against teams that do not normally play each other. Teams will play one game Friday afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Each team will play two games on Saturday; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Schedules will be available Friday morning at the Kamloops Rugby Club between 11am and 1pm. Schedules will also be posted on the website Friday morning for those with internet access. Go to www.kamrugby.com and follow the Rugbyfest link. Schedules will not be sent out before this time due to last minute changes that always occur.
If you’ve been here before, you know that the schedule is never perfect. Last minute changes always have to be made, given the large number of teams and side-deals going on. If you are planning a schedule change, or simply are not able to meet your previously scheduled game commitments, you must let us know asap. Call one of the numbers listed above, and let us know what you are doing!!
Skills Competition will be held at 11:30am on Friday, April 16 at the Rugby club. The following events will be held: Drop Goal, Place Kick, Pass, 40m Sprint. Please have your athletes onsite by 11:00am to register. Each team may register 2 rugby players for each of the events.
Are you bringing a referee? Recent IRB law changes dictate that all U19 games must be officiated by a certified IRB Level 1 referee. Each team is expected to bring at least one referee. All referees who complete at least 2 full games during RugbyFest Day 1 will receive a complimentary pass to the Coaches Dinner Celebration.
A current email address is preferred as the primary contact point for all teams and coaches, as this will be the primary means of communication prior to the start of RugbyFest. If no email is available, please provide main phone # (cel) that the coach can be reached at prior to and during RugbyFest. If no cel or email is available, all coaches are expected to check in at the Kamloops Rugby Club on Friday Morning, Friday Evening, and again on Saturday morning to ensure they have the latest schedule and referee info.
